What is a Certificate of Fitness?
A CoF is a regular safety inspection for passenger service, rental, and heavy goods vehicles, making sure they meet New Zealand’s road safety standards. You’ll need a CoF if you drive vehicles like:
- Taxis and shuttles
- Rental cars and motorcycles
- Heavy trucks and buses
- Licensed recovery service vehicles
- Rental and heavy campervans
Before you come in
If your vehicle operates under a Transport Service Licence, bring it along with you as our team will need to see it as part of the inspection.
What happens if my vehicle fails?
No stress if your vehicle doesn’t pass, you’ve got up to 28 days to get the repairs done and bring it back for a free re-inspection. Just keep in mind that during this period, your vehicle can only be driven to a place of repair or inspection.
